In honour of the Mid-Autumn Festival on Friday 29th September, also known as Mooncake, Lantern or Moon Festival, the Woodhurst Park Residents’ Events Committee invited all residents to join them for an evening of celebration at Berkeley’s Sales and Marketing Suite at Woodhurst Park in Warfield.
A significant date in many East Asian household’s calendars, the Mid-Autumn Festival is often celebrated by gathering for dinners, worshiping the moon, lighting paper lanterns and eating moon cakes. The event was attended by over 80 Woodhurst Park residents, with everyone contributing various food offerings including traditional mooncakes.
Andy, Member of the Residents’ Events Committee, said: “This was our first time putting on a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration and it was a fantastic success, with over 80 residents attending throughout the evening. The event allowed many of our Hong Kong community here to share their cultural traditions with their neighbours and meet with other members of Woodhurst Park. We were also lucky to have some good weather on Friday evening which meant we were able to see the moon and participate in some of the more traditional celebrations.”
Benjamin Ivey, Director of Sales and Marketing at Berkeley Homes (Oxford & Chiltern), commented: “We were really pleased to support the Residents’ Events Committee this month with their Mid-Autumn Festival gathering which embodied values of family, unity and community – aligning with the vision we have for Woodhurst Park. The event showcased the richness of cultural diversity and community spirit here at the development which continues to grow as new residents move in.”
