This summer, the Residents’ Events Committee at Berkeley’s Woodhurst Park in Warfield near Bracknell celebrated two successful weekend ‘Go Wild’ events hosted onsite for local children living at the development. The events were led by Tina Stubbs, owner of Life’s Little Bugs, focusing on wildlife that can be found on the children’s doorstep.

The children took part in a nature walks through the copse, learning about the range of plants, trees and animals that can be found on and around the development. The children were also invited to take part in a scavenger hunt where they were able to discover the wildlife for themselves. An outdoor crafts session took place at one of the development’s majestic redwood trees; sculptures of the mythical Green Man were made from found natural objects and attached to the tree.  The event concluded with toasted marshmallows and waffles around a campfire in the marketing suite garden.

Lisa Jarvis, Member of the Residents’ Events Committee, said: “It was fantastic to welcome so many local residents to our Go Wild sessions this month at Woodhurst Park, as well as introduce them to the residents’ committee. Wildlife is at the heart of our community and there is no better place for the children to learn about nature along our bordering woodland. Throughout the sessions, we managed to see a variety of birds, insects and small creatures, and finished the days with nature-inspired arts and crafts sessions which let the children’s imaginations run wild – with some really creative results!”

Benjamin Ivey, director of sales and marketing at Berkeley Homes (Oxford & Chiltern), commented: “Being outside is so important for children’s well-being, so activities that increase their knowledge and engagement with the local environment are incredibly valued at Woodhurst Park. Our development sits in over 65 acres of country park, so it has been wonderful to see the children interact with this space and the creatures that live there. This development is built on community spirit, and Lisa and the Residents’ Association’s Go Wild events demonstrate how well our homes have merged with their surroundings.”
