Manchester City Ban Two Minors for ‘Vile Chanting’ Following the Death of Sir Bobby Charlton
Manchester City have taken the unprecedented step of banning two minors from attending both home and away games due to their participation in “vile chanting” at a game following the death of Sir Bobby Charlton.
The Incident
The incident occurred at the Manchester City vs. Everton game on the 22nd of February 2021. After news of the death of former Manchester United and England footballer Sir Bobby Charlton broke, some of the Manchester City supporters began chanting “we hate Bobby Charlton”.
Manchester City’s Response
In response to the incident, Manchester City have issued a statement condemning the behaviour of the supporters and reiterating that it will not be tolerated. They have also taken the unprecedented step of banning two minors from attending both home and away games for an unspecified period of time.

Commenting on the incident, a spokesperson from Sports by My Bracknell said: “It is sad to see such behaviour from young people at a game. We hope that Manchester City’s response will serve as a warning to others that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
