Protestors were in town at the weekend, highlighting the claim that Barclays is bankrolling Israel’s genocidal assault on Palestinians.
The East Berkshire branch of the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign was backing their research that has uncovered that Barclays Bank holds over £1 billion in shares, and provides over £3 billion in loans and underwriting to nine companies whose weapons, components, and military technology are being used by Israel in its attacks on Palestinians.
A spokesman said: “By providing investment and financial services to these arms companies, Barclays is facilitating the provision of weapons and technology for Israel’s attacks on Palestinians. We’re calling on concerned people to boycott all Barclays services until the bank ends its grave complicity in Israel’s attacks on Palestinians.”
Last month on February 9th 1,500 people collectively closed their Barclays accounts and another Mass Accounts Closure Day is being planned for Thursday, March 21st.
