A project to provide young people with new skills, emotional support and advice is coming to the borough this summer.
Berkshire Youth and Bracknell Forest Council’s targeted youth support service secured funding from the Million Hours Fund in February 2024 for an upcycling bike project for young people in Wildridings.
Young people will be able to recycle and fix a bike for them to take away and use. The team will support young people with upcycling a bike, while providing practical and emotional support.
The project leaders are now looking for volunteers to support the upcycling bike project.
Project volunteers
They are looking for volunteers with some knowledge and skills in upcycling bikes to help guide the young people with their projects. Young people who attend the project will be able to take away their upcycled bike and use it to get to school, college, work and around the borough.
Support volunteers
They need volunteers who can collect donated bikes from locations around the borough and drop them to our bike project.
Fundraising
They are also seeking volunteers to help with fundraising to keep the project going.
As some of these roles involve contact with children, young people or adults at risk (or their data), a DBS check may be required. They will help you with this process if you don’t already have an up-to-date DBS check.
You can also support this project by donating old bikes and items such as lights, parts and tools for young people to use.
