On Sunday, November 10th, the Bracknell community gathered in the town centre for a moving Act of
Remembrance and parade through The Lexicon.
Hundreds of observers came to express their gratitude to those who have served in the Armed Forces during the many conflicts over the years. Approximately 30 dignitaries, including Deputy Lord Lieutenant Sean Taylor, Bracknell Forest Mayor Councillor Jenny Penfold, Bracknell Town Mayor Councillor Elizabeth Mary Baker, Bracknell MP Peter Swallow, representatives from the Forces, Cadets, youth groups, religious groups, and charity organisations, convened to lay wreaths at The Angel War Memorial outside of Princess Square.
Blessings were read by Rev’d Robin Sharples, Rabbi Zvi Solomons, and a representative from the Hindu
Community.
This solemn event was thoughtfully organised by Bracknell Town Council officers and supported by
their staff and councillors on the day. The invaluable contributions of the Royal British Legion Chair, Ian Webb, who acted as The Standard Bearer, and the Vice Chair, Andrew Bury, who served as the Parade Marshal, were gratefully received.
Each year, the Bracknell Town Centre Remembrance event attracts more of the local community to participate in and observe this hallowed tradition of remembering the fallen and those still serving in wars and conflicts worldwide. Bracknell Town Council is committed to passing on this tradition down to younger generations, ensuring it continues for years to come.
