Some animals have been getting themselves in a pickle lately.
Firefighters were called to an incident in Warfield at 6.24pm on Monday, 19th February. They received reports of an animal in distress near Bottle Lane near Warfield.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Wokingham Road, Bracknell and Maidenhead were sent to the scene alongside an Animal Rescue Unit from Caversham Road Fire Station.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a horse trapped in a ditch. Firefighters helped the horse out of the ditch before placing it in the care of a vet. Crews were at the scene for approximately two hours and 50 minutes.
And at 1.47pm on Saturday, 17th February, they received reports of an animal in distress on Pheasant Close in Winnersh.
A Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crew was sent to the scene alongside an Aerial Ladder Platform from Whitley Wood Road Fire Station.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a cat stuck up a tall tree. Firefighters used the Aerial Ladder Platform to rescue the cat from a height of approximately 40 feet and return it to its owner.
If your pet cat gets stuck in a tree, please contact the RSPCA in the first instance. Firefighters will only attend incidents where there is an immediate risk to life.
Crews were at the scene for approximately 57 minutes.
