A care home in Bracknell was joined by local pupils for an eggs-tra special party.

Residents at Care UK’s Bickerton House, on Warfield Road, were joined by pupils from Wooden Hill Primary school for a cracking Easter celebration – complete with an exciting egg hunt.

Ahead of the party, residents and the pupils had written pen pal letters to each other discussing the special event. On the day, everyone enjoyed an Easter-themed arts and crafts session, as well as a scavenger hunt using crafts made by the residents, with pupils tasked to find hidden letters to retrieve their Easter eggs. The day finished with everyone taking part in traditional party games.

Carl Francis, Home Manager at Bickerton House, said: “Here at Bickerton House, celebrating special occasions not only creates a buzzing atmosphere around the home, but also allows residents to swap stories about their favourite ways to mark the occasion in the past.
“Easter was made even more special this year with the arrival of a group of excited local youngsters, who loved chatting with residents, eating chocolate, and getting in the party spirit!!
“Intergenerational relationships have many benefits for older people, from offering an increased sense of purpose, to providing an opportunity to reminisce about their younger years. Everyone enjoyed meeting their Pen pals and having a great Easter party and we hope our new friends from Wooden Hill Primary School enjoy tucking into their chocolate treats over the Easter holidays!”
Bickerton House has been designed to encourage residents to live active and fulfilling lives, while remaining as independent as possible in a safe environment. The state-of-the-art care home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care and features a bar and café, cinema, hair salon, activities room and garden.
