The Eco Rewards scheme in Bracknell Forest has been extended until the end of 2027.
Eco Rewards offers rewards and incentives for schools, businesses and residents in Bracknell Forest to encourage everyone to choose greener travel and healthy lifestyle options. As part of the extended scheme, Eco Rewards plans to reach more residents through engaging new schools, businesses, local communities, bus and rail users, as well as launching more competitions.
The scheme will continue to support school communities in reducing car usage on the school run by promoting walking, cycling, wheeling, and car-sharing. Schools with the most improvement in participation will win the Eco School of the Year award in 2025.
Residents can get going straight away with the 12 days of Christmas competition. To take part, members must log green and active journeys on at least 12 days between December and 31st January to have the chance to win share of £100 in a prize draw.
Green and active journeys can be logged manually using the Eco Rewards app or by scanning any of the 150 QR code signs located across the borough. QR codes have been strategically positioned on routes to schools, train stations, bus stations, and selected bus stops to make it easier than ever to report public transport journeys.
Cllr Guy Gillbe, cabinet member for planning, transport and countryside, said: “Eco Rewards is a fantastic way to help change your travelling habits. Choosing a more sustainable option is better for the environment as well as your own health.
“You can win prizes and receive discounts and cashback at lots of online retailers simply by walking, cycling or choosing public transport more.”
Collectively, members in Bracknell Forest have already recorded over 600,000 green miles and saved 175 tonnes of CO2e, that’s the equivalent weight of around 10 London red buses!
