A Berkshire-based community charity has received a financial boost from Skipton Business Finance (SBF) to support its therapeutic horticultural work.
The charity has benefited from a £250 grant from Skipton Business Finance through its Communities Matter Scheme to help reinforce its commitment to supporting local initiatives that make a meaningful impact.
Jealott’s Hill Community Landshare, a Community Interest Company (CIC), is based in Bracknell, Berkshire and is a unique community garden dedicated to social and therapeutic horticulture.
The CIC promotes social inclusion by connecting individuals with nature and sharing the healing power of gardening. Through its ‘Nurture, Grow and Connect’philosophy, the landshare provides a welcoming environment for group gardening and craft projects, volunteering opportunities and community engagement.
The funding from SBF will help cover essential running costs to keep Jealott’s Hill accessible to the local community. It will also provide resources for activities designed to support individuals with additional needs, ensuring that more people can benefit from the therapeutic advantages of gardening in the local area.
To further support the charity, team members at Skipton Business Finance joined the charity last year to spend a day volunteering in its community garden.
Paul Adams, Chair of the Directors at Jealott’s Hill Community Landshare, expressed gratitude for the funding, saying: “This support from Skipton Business Finance makes such a difference to a small CIC like us.
The funding has allowed us to continue providing a safe, welcoming space where people can connect, learn and heal through horticulture and plan the expansion of our services. We’d like to say a huge “thank you” from the whole team here at Jealott’s Hill Landshare.”
Matthew Shepherd, Chief Commercial Officer at Skipton Business Finance, said: “It is important that we support community initiatives that truly care about giving back to the local community. The work from the Jealott’s Hill team is admirable, and it’s a pleasure to support it.
“The Communities Matter scheme was developed to give community groups and projects around the UK the chance to receive a small grant to support their vision, fund immediate needs, and continue making an impact within their community.”
