During the Easter break, The Lexicon showcased the creative skills of local children with ten giant Easter eggs decorated by local primary schools, forming an Easter Trail around the town centre.
As part of an arts competition sponsored by Bracknell-based fine arts manufacturer Daler-Rowney, visitors to The Lexicon were encouraged to vote for their favourite egg design, as they followed the trail around town.
Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon said: “We received almost 3,000 votes, which is a great testament to all ten of the fabulous designs created by the schools.”
The Easter Egg with the most votes was created by Winkfield St Mary’s CE Primary School, which captured their school logo as well as colourfully embodying Easter. The egg was displayed in the Next window on The Avenue.
Winkfield St Mary’s CE Primary School was presented with a £500 donation from The Lexicon plus £300 of art supplies from Daler-Rowney.
Melissa Wells-Gardner, Year 1 Class Teacher and Art Lead at Winkfield St Marys Primary School said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the designing and creation process of the project and were delighted with the prize. The project has awakened the children’s love for art!”
New Scotland Hill Primary School was runner-up in the competition and received a £250 donation from The Lexicon plus £200 of art supplies from Daler-Rowney.
Carola Bustos-Loyola, Trade Marketing Manager at Daler-Rowney, said: “We were delighted to sponsor The Lexicon’s Easter Egg art competition and hope that the schools enjoy the arts packs that they have won.”
