With the UK in official drought saving water is now high on the agenda, today Saturday 13th August 2022 we came across two burst water mains in Wokingham one in Binfield and the other in Hurst. So why do we see burst piped in the summer?
When the hottest months of summer come, there is an increasing demand for water, and the heat too has an overall effect on the condition of the pipes. Under the intensive pressure of these two factors, the pipes can burst. The other view could be that pipes are in poor condition and lack of investment could be the cause. In any case its not good for any of us especially as we could be facing a hosepipe ban anytime soon.
Advice from South East Water
“Stop, think and act – just three words that can help return crucial water needed by our communities at this very difficult time. As current conditions stand, one person’s paddling pool is another family’s drinking water for a week.”
STOP: No hosepipes and sprinklers.
THINK: What can I do to keep water consumption to just essential use?
ACT: Right now we all have to cut down on the amount of water we use
